My brother's a fan, but I don't think any of us here have tried to grow anything. [Angels like wild things; at least they had when Lucifer was young.]

Now. It's a beautiful day, come see the garden. The cat. Other things.

[Al gives him a look that says he doesn't buy it, but oh well.]

I'll be over in a little bit.

[Lucifer smiles at him and shuts off the feed. He'll be waiting in the front yard, idly digging in the dirt with the invisible kitten.]

[Al appears at the fence a little while later, leaning against the house. He knows better than to get straight to the point, but.]

Do you have seeds?

A few plants. I dug up the verbena, Xerxes found the tomatoes. I gave him some other odds and ends a while back; he planted those already.

[Lucifer doesn't look at him right away; he's sitting cross-legged in the grass, eyes closed, face tilted up toward the sun. He doesn't even really react when Sugarplum starts digging dirt up onto him.]

[Al nods and heads over to his side.]

Break likes the verbena, right?

[thelightbringer]

...Something like that. How've you been?

Oh, hey- if you find any chamomile? [He makes a motion at the garden, put it here.] He could use a break from nettles.

[al_truism]

I'll bring it over next time I visit. My mom had a lot of it.

[Al leans over, slowly drawing with his finger in the dirt. It's a transmutation circle. But it looks more like a doodle.]

Better.

[He waits.]

[Lucifer lies back, but now he's watching Al. The sunlight in his eyes doesn't even make him squint.]

Since you're in the mood to draw, let's make a map.

[al_truism]

Of what, exactly?

[thelightbringer]

The Inner City. This world. Local gossip. I don't know, how big a doodle do you feel up for?

[al_truism]

I'll see how much I remember.

[thelightbringer]

There's some paper inside. Ready?

[The kitten pads over to sniff Al's shoes; it's only obvious because she leaves paw prints in the dirt.]

[al_truism]

Sure. I can only really remember a few floors of the inner city, but I know the rest of the city itself well enough.

[Al leans down to stroke a few fingers along her back.]

[thelightbringer]

I see you've met her already.

[al_truism]

Break introduced us when I went to see him.

[His tone warms considerably.]

He says that he hopes she's purple.

[thelightbringer]

[He just grins. He won't tell Break if she is or not.] That would be fitting, wouldn't it?

[al_truism]

I didn't know cats came in purple. Then again, I didn't know cats could be invisible, either.

[thelightbringer]

She's a hellcat. She could be anything I want her to be. [Cooing the words at the kitten, who playfully paws Lucifer's face. And scratches him to the bone on accident, but it heals in a few seconds.]

[al_truism]

[Al winces.]

You'll have to teach her how to use her claws. That wouldn't heal up on Break.

[thelightbringer]

She doesn't touch him with her paws. And if she did, he has me, hm?

[But training these animals is a lot more difficult than it sounds. He gave Break the kitten when she was brand new so that she would learn instinctively not to bite or claw him even in play. Other people might be screwed.]

[al_truism]

Good. She's very sweet, though.

[Al strokes behind her ears, giving her attention.]

[thelightbringer]

She'd better be.

[Her purring is so loud it rattles the loose dirt around her feet, and she's getting strong; she arches against Al's fingers.]

I'll be back.

[He goes and returns with scraps of paper, a board, and some bits of charcoal.]

[Al explores with his fingers, still scratching gently, finding any physical differences between her and a normal cat.

When Lucifer comes back, he sits down, devoting one hand to cat-attention, organizing supplies with the other.]
