Here's the deal. If Castiel comes with us, the trip is still on. I'm considering him as an option.

If I decide he's not tagging along, neither is Xerxes; I'll wait to go until he's busy or distracted with something. Someone. Whichever. Gabriel will go with me whether I want him to or not.

You don't tell anyone before we leave. You leave a message when we go to one loved one. I don't need the hassle of people chasing us because I set this up.

Xerxes, for now, has the right to say when enough is enough. Listen to him, but also to me. If anything happens, we do what we can to bring us all back out.

"I need to be able to tell Negi, Ed and Luca. I need to name a second. If something happens to us, they need to be able to carry on."

"Riiight. You want to tell Negi and Ed that you're going down below with good old Satan. I'm sure they'll wave you off with flowers, not a problem."

"I won't say a word, but I'll have advance warning if something goes wrong, and I'll know how to keep the others safe."

Again, no bitterness. He could almost have ruffled Al's hair and cooed it at him. He taps his chin thoughtfully.

"That you'll make sure Break gets back safe."

"Oh, your journals. For Castiel."

[Al gives him a long-suffering look and opens his bag, pulling out two thick notebooks.]

I copied over the relevant entries. They're unchanged. He's free to keep these.

[He takes the entries, glances them over.]
